Frequently asked questions
How can I type Korean without a Korean keyboard?
Use Virtual mode. Press the English keys shown under each Korean letter, and K-Typing builds the Korean syllables for you. Nothing needs to be installed.
Do I need to install a Korean keyboard?
No. Virtual mode works on any keyboard. If you want to practice with your device's own Korean keyboard, switch to Native mode and follow the setup guide.
What keyboard layout does K-Typing teach?
Dubeolsik (2-set Korean), the standard Korean layout. Consonants are on the left side of the keyboard and vowels on the right.
Is K-Typing free? Do I need an account?
It is free and needs no account. Your progress is saved only in your browser.
Can I use it on a phone or tablet?
Yes. Tap the on-screen keyboard to type, and trace each Hangul letter with your finger to learn its stroke order.
What will I learn?
All 40 Hangul letters with stroke order and sound, 300 basic TOPIK I words, and 200 everyday and travel phrases, grouped by topic.
Why can’t I hear the pronunciation?
Pronunciation uses a Korean voice on your device. If there is none, K-Typing shows how to install one for your system.
